Thanks to the recession I had to take one of the few jobs available to me and that was in McDonald's. I didn't mind so much because I had worked in a store a few years back and in a very short time earned my stars and became management material. I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing all I wanted to do was to do my job as best as I could and get a wage. Life went on, 2 other jobs and 6 years later I'm back to the burgers in a different town.
The store manager of my new store is named Harry, hes about 2 years older than me but hasn't managed to grow up yet still talking about video games and trying to join in with the 18 year-old workers and be their friend. Oblivious is one way to describe Harry if he is not in the office he is in the crew room chilling out while a busy lunch or dinner plays out in the restaurant.
The ass manager which is what I call the assistant manager is called Daryl. A boy racer from the country with a command of English sounding similar to a donkey giving head, "gluk gluk gluk change mulk" with undiagnosed ADD he runs about in a state of panic yelling at people finding faults with everything you do ............... yes he is the training manager.
Harry had his eye on me for bigger things but I could not operate at his level of incompetence seeing how the other managers and crew were treated.
The two salaried managers only do what they have to to get by, no over time and no coming in on days off, not something I am used to. They never worked night shifts and just leave that part to others turning a blind eye to whatever goes on. A leadership fail. Who wants to work when they know that either Harry or Daryl will yap at them anyway?
The demoralised crew and shift managers rely on the higher ups being morons and so eat and drink whatever they want in kitchen and front counter, close up early or just don't do their jobs.
I have gone into restaurants to eat and have gotten bad food and service and it did spoil my night and so I would not wish that on anyone else but its hard to care when no one else does.
